SOLD. The SKS (Samozaryadnyj Karabin Simonova = Simonov Self-loading Carbine) was designed by famous Russian arms designer Simonov, who already designed the self-loading rifle AVS-36 and an anti-tank rifle PTRS. In 1949 this carbine was officially adopted by the Soviet Army as a "7.62mm Samozaryadnyj Karabin Simonova obr. 1945 goda - SKS". The SKS was brought into service along with the Kalashnikov AK-47, and was widely used during the first two or three post-war decades. This example is an original Tula (star) marked Russian military variant very probably from the 1950's or early 1960's. It is very good used condition with only minor wear to the metalwork and good stocks. This piece was until recently in a museum (details will be provided upon sale) and has a neat 6mm hole through the rear stock where it was wall mounted. Complete with period leather sling and two inert drill rounds. EU deactivation with moving bolt section under spring pressure (the only one we know of deactivated this way), moving safety and the ability to release the magazine assembly, but without the ability to dry fire or field strip.
