Specific Terms & Conditions
Notifications of Transfer for Deactivated Firearms (applicable from 12/12/2019)
Under the Firearms Regulations 2019, from 12th December 2019, DWSUK has a legal requirement to notify the Home Office of any sales of deactivated firearms. Full details can be viewed here but in short, the notification we have to send will include your name and address, along with the make, calibre and serial number of the deactivated firearm you are purchasing. By purchasing from us, you agree to us sharing this information with the Home Office as required by law. There is no requirement for you to send a further notification of possession as this will be covered by the notification we send (please see point 29 of the document linked above). If in future you transfer (sell, etc.) this deactivated firearm, you will then need to complete a transfer notification. Forms for this are available here.
* Age Requirements
The minimum age required to purchase and own a deactivated firearm in the UK is 18. Further to this, DWSUK reserves the right to supply deactivated firearms only to those aged 25 or over. By ordering from this site you are confirming that you meet this criteria. DWSUK will also request confirmation of age prior to despatch of an order containing a deactivated firearm. This will need to be provided by the customer in the form of a scan or clear photo of official ID showing date of birth, e.g. driving license, passport, etc.
There is a minimum age requirement of 18 to purchase any bladed article (including all bayonets) and a requirement under law Offensive Weapons Act 2019). Therefore, for bladed articles, you will always be asked to prove your age (as above) prior to us processing your order and to confirm that the delivery will only be accepted by persons over the age of 18.
From 14th July 2014, it will be illegal for any person who has served or received a criminal sentence (custodial over 3 years or suspended of between 3 months and 3 years) to possess or purchase an antique firearm. If you are affected by this, please do not attempt to order such items from us. If you chose to ignore this instruction/condition, you accept full liability for the consequences of your actions and waive all of your rights under UK consumer trading law. THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO DEACTIVATED FIREARMS.
Title of Goods
Until payment is received in full and has cleared, the title of goods shall remain the property of DWSUK.
Deactivated Weapons & Inert Ammunition
Unless otherwise specified, deactivated Weapons are supplied with EU/UK Proof House certificates as evidential proof of deactivation. DWSUK accepts no liability for any subsequent modifications or alterations to the goods made by the customer or his agent. Inert ammunition supplied by DWSUK is not suitable for re-loading or insertion into any type of firearm; it is sold for display purposes only.
DWSUK does not provide credit facilities for retail customers. Subject to arrangement and conditions, certain credit facilities may be available to bonafide trade customers.
Where a deposit is taken on an item, it is non-refundable unless DWSUK is unable to provide the goods the deposit applies to. In this situation, DWSUK will contact the customer to ascertain if they would like an alternative item and if not, will refund the deposit in full.
DWSUK reserves the right to amend prices at any time up until the point of sale. Prices do not include postage and packaging.
DWSUK will always aim to ship goods as quickly as possible. All goods will be securely packaged using appropriate materials*. Unless otherwise stated, goods will be insured during transit. DWSUK accepts no responsibility for the actions of third parties contracted to deliver goods and is unable to gaurantee such services once goods have been despatched.
We always aim to describe our products as accurately as possible and show items using a range of photographs from different angles. We 'grade' the condition of our products according to the following scale: New/Mint/Excellent/Very Good/Good/Fair/Poor. It is up to the customer to satisfy themselves prior to ordering of the condition of an item using a combination of the item description, photographs and as necessary asking us for further information or photographs** Where the customer later disputes the condition of an item and asks for a refund, it will be processed subject to the conditions and deductions indicated below for 'other reasons'.
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations your right to cancel an order starts when you place your order and doesn't end until 14 days from the day you receive your goods. If you wish to cancel your order please inform us by email or by letter (not by telephone or text). Please do not return goods before your cancellation has been acknowledged by DWSUK. Once acknowledged, where goods have already been received by the customer it is their responsibility to return the item (in the condition they were originally received) and bear the cost of this. Some of the products sold here can only be transported via specialist couriers under contract (rather than accessed ad-hoc by the general public). In this situation, DWSUK can arrange a pickup of the goods, but this will be chargeable to the customer. Returns to DWSUK must be made within 14 days of us acknowledging the cancellation.
If goods are faulty or not as described DWSUK will provide a full refund including postage. Alternatively a replacement product may be available should the customer require this. Where returns are made for other reasons (including the customer having changed their mind, etc.), postage will not be refunded and the refund may also be subject to the deduction of a restocking fee. Neither returns, nor refunds are available in the event that there are changes in legislation relating to sale or ownership of deactivated firearms.
Due to the nature of the products offered here, all goods should be considered as second user unless specifically stated otherwise in the product description. Please bear this in mind BEFORE ordering and note that refunds may not be available where this is the reason given for requesting a return and refund.
* Please note we actively aim to recycle packaging materials and will therefore re-use boxes, bubble wrap, etc. where we can. Please be assured, however, that this will not be to the detriment of assuring the safety of your purchase in transit.
** At busy periods, additional photographs can take up to 10 days.
