An excellent example of this fairly scarce Japanese issue 9mm revolver. The Type 26 entered service with the Imperial Japanese Army in 1893 and was used until 1945. In terms of workmanship, it was far superior to later Japanese designs but did have some quirks including the cylinder stop only being active when the hammer is coxked. This meant that the cylinder could spin when not in use, potentially meaning an empty chamber could rotate into the next firing position. It has no hammer spur and works in double action mode only - something that was very unusual for the time it was designed. Many of these Meiji revolvers had hard, long lives often resulting in examples seen on the surplus market being well used. This piece retains much of its original blued finish with a little fading/rubbing from service use; the grips are good. Deactivated to the EU specification with fully moving parts, a dry fire action, the ability to 'break' open the action and a working cartridge ejector; it can't be field stripped.
