A Swiss Schmidt Rubin sporterised rifle chambered in 9.3mm x 53mm. The Model 1889 was developed by Rudolf Schmidt using a cartridge developed by Eduard Rubin – hence the name. It employs a straight pull bolt mechanism using a complex system of locking lugs. This proved to be its eventual downfall with production ceasing in 1897. This example would have started its life as a standard military piece chambered in 7.5 x 53.5 mm. It has then, at a later date, been rechambered for 9.3 x 53mm with a sporter stock conversion added and removal of the magazine to make it single shot. It is in good used condition with a good proportion of the original metalwork finish intact. The wood is also generally good with just a few minor dings. Current specification deactivation with a moving bolt and moving trigger under spring pressure but without the ability dry fire or field strip. Sorry - no international sales.
