Manufactured from 1925 until the early 1980's, the MK IV was issued alongside the Enfield to allied forces during WWII. It was also sold commercially and supplied to various Police forces. This 3" barrelled example is marked 'WAR FINISH' with a serial number dating it to 1942/43. This is an intersting piece as it would almost certainly have started life as a standard 5" barrelled version. It has then been fitted with a 3" barrel and has its frame and grips professionally shortened to give more the proportions of the Webley Pocket model. The work has been completed to such a high standard that you wouldn't know it wasn't factory original unless you were specifically looking for it. Although we can't verify this, we've been told that a batch of such wartime adapted Webleys was produced for use in the British Occupation Zone between the end of WWII and the establishment of West Germany in 1949. According to the accolunt we've heard, they were issued to non-combatant personnel for personal protection, etc. In very good overall condition with much original finish intact but some limited service wear. Current specification deactivation with moving trigger under spring pressure, moving hammer under spring pressure, the ability to break/open the action and clear cylinder chambers to accept inert rounds. Pulling the trigger rotates the cylinder but does not dry fire. Call our freephone credit card sales hotline to buy this item now with your credit or debit card - 0800 772 3499.
