Similar to a Glock, the 24/7 combines a polymer frame with a steel slide and employs a hammerless striker fired mechanism. The OSS model was designed to meet the requirements of the USSOCOM (United States Special Operations Command) for a new US service pistol. Although the USSOCOM project was eventually shelved for political/financial reasons, Taurus decided to release the OSS model to the civilian marketplace. It proved extremely popular and gained a reputation for extreme reliability. In 2005 it won the NRA Handgun of the Year award. The OSS model features a slightly longer match grade barrel and a three position safety system giving fire, safe and decock options. This is the much rarer .45ACP version rather than the standard 9mm. We have seen, handled and sold many other makes of modern striker fired pistols and in our opinion the OSS tops the lot. This example has a black frame combined with a black slide. It is in mint condition and comes complete with original factory box, two magazines, magazine loader, mechanism locking key, factory manuals, cleaning brush and 5 inert .45ACP rounds. Deactivated to post 1995 UK standards with fully moving parts, working dry fire action and the ability to field strip.
