SOLD. Also known as the MLE 1873 and the St, Etienne Model 1873 Chamelot-Delvigne, around 330,000 of these revolvers were produced between 1873 and 1887. They were issued to the French armed forces and were widely used during WWI, issued to reserve units in WWII and used by the French Resistance. Chambered in the 11 x 17.8mm R round, these large framed revolvers were well-engineered and supremely reliable. They were finished in 'the white', i.e. in their natural machined steel finish and had chequered hardwood grips. This example is dated 1883 and is completely matching; literally everything is numbered including the screws. Seen in lots of period type movies including one of the most Recent Sherlock Holmes films. Deactivated to the current specification with moving hammer under spring pressure, moving trigger under spring pressure, rotating cylinder (upon the trigger being pulled) and clear chambers to the cylinder to accept inert rounds - see video of this item here and below (coming soon). It does not have a dry fire action and can't be field stripped. Call our freephone credit card sales hotline to buy this item now with your credit or debit card - 0800 772 3499. Proof of ID and age will be required prior to the despatch of this item.
